Williams gathers 18 boards in Mont Alto win

Penn State Mont Alto 70, Penn State Lehigh Valley 63

Cameron Williams was on triple-double watch once again for Penn State Mont Alto on Tuesday evening as the team pulled out a narrow 70-63 victory after leading by 22 at halftime. In the game, Williams scored 17 points to go along with 18 rebounds and 6 assists. Dariel Rivera scored 17 of his own shooting 5 of 14 from the floor with five rebounds and four assists.

 

Penn State Mont Alto built an early 20-5 lead following a Caleb Eckert three point basket on an assist from Dariel Rivera. Mont Alto went on a 14-0 run later in the half capped off by a Cameron Williams layup on an assist from Dariel Rivera. Dajour Douglas made two free throws in the waning seconds of the half to cut the deficit to 22. Penn State Mont Alto led at the half 45-23.

 

Penn State Lehigh Valley outscored Penn State Mont Alto in the second half 40-25 behind 14 points from Ki Barnes and 13 from Arnel Lewis. Penn State Mont Alto led 62-43 with 7 minutes to play in the half before a Ki Barnes steal led to a foul and two converted free throws. Lehigh Valley went on a 17-2 spurt as they trimmed the lead to four points at 64-60 with just 3:20 remaining in the contest. 

 

Dariel Rivera hit a clutch three point basket and some free throws late to clinch the narrow victory for Penn State Mont Alto. The team would hang on to win its conference opener by a final of 70-63.

 

Penn State Mont Alto was outshot from the field as Lehigh Valley shot 36.4% compared to Mont Alto's 34.2%. Mont Alto dominated on the boards, however, outrebounding the opposition 62-39.
