Balanced attack defeats Beaver 55-50

Penn State Mont Alto 55, Penn State Beaver 50

 

Penn State Mont Alto bounced back from Tuesday's loss to Penn State Schuylkill, defeating Penn State Beaver by a final of 55-50 on Friday evening. Cameron Williams (12), Anthony Davis (10), Cristian Rogers Jr. (9) and Nathan Osei (8) helped the balanced offense for Mont Alto.

 

How It Happened

First Half

Penn State Mont Alto found itself down by as many as five early before Bryson Fleming tied the score at 10-10 midway through. Beaver went on an 8-0 run following the timeout to go up eight with 7:30 remaining. Caleb Eckert converted on a three-pointer with 23 seconds left in the half to cut the deficit to 26-24 at the half. Cristian Rogers Jr. (7) and Nathan Osei (5) led Mont Alto in scoring at the break. Alexander Avery (8) paced the Beaver attack in the first half.

Second Half

Bryson Fleming's three point basket pushed the contest to a 33-33 tie with 14:08 left in regulation. Beaver pushed the lead to five again before Mont Alto tied the game at 39-39 on a Cristian Rogers Jr. layup. Mont Alto would lead by as much as five points late as Caleb Eckert sealed the victory by converting two free throws with six seconds remaining. Mont Alto would hang on for a 55-50 win. 

 

Inside the Box Score

Cameron Williams led Penn State Mont Alto in scoring with 12 points. He also added seven rebounds and three assists. Anthony Davis had ten points and six boards off the bench in 19 minutes. 

 

Devon Johnson led Penn State Beaver in scoring with 17 points. Johnson also had nine rebounds in a near double-double. Alexander Avery played the entire game and recorded 14 points including three three pointers.
