The Penn State Mont Alto golf team traveled to Youghiogheny Country Club in McKeesport on Sunday afternoon for its opening event of the season. Darian Mort paced the Nittany Lions to a second place finish as he shot a round of 85. Brogan Beall finished second for Penn State Mont Alto as he carded a 91. Josh Bump, Brennan Sease and Stephen Lucas all finished the day with a 95. The team total for the day was 366. 

Youghiogheny Country Club is a 6,349 yard course with tight fairways and fast greens. The Nittany Lion golfers managed to battle through for a strong front nine holes. "The back nine proved challenging with uneven lies and serious uphill approach shots," said Penn State Mont Alto Head Golf Coach Ed Reely.

The squad will look to improve upon its second place finish in its next event, the PSUAC Invitational held on September 8 at Penn State's White Course. Start time is slated for 10 a.m.
