Golfers take opening PSUAC Invitational, Freeman first place with 71

The Penn State Mont Alto golf team took to the Penn State White Course on Thursday afternoon in their first event of the season. Mont Alto picked up where they left off last year, taking the event with a team score of 305. The Nittany Lions swept the top three spots as Derek Freeman won the individual portion with a round of 71. Jacob Bassham finished a stroke behind Freeman with a 72. Ben Irr rounded out the top three with a round of 75.

Matthew Salancy made his Mont Alto debut with a round of 87, finishing T-36. Levi Hassinger carded a 90 and Kamea Pierce ended her round with a 121. 

Up Next: Golf travels to Penn State Shenango for their event on Saturday September 13 at 1:30pm. The event is being hosted at O'Shanter Golf Course.
