Bassham takes 1st at DuBois, golfers finish weekend strong with win
The Penn State Mont Alto golfers traveled to Ohio on Saturday to compete in the Officer Joe Izzo Invitational hosted by Penn State Shenango where they finished third place. The following day, they competed in the Penn State DuBois Invitational. Jacob Bassham finished 1st with a 73 at DuBois as Mont Alto finished the weekend with a team win at the event.
Bassham followed up a 3rd place 76 on Saturday with a first place 73 on Sunday. Ben Irr and Derek Freeman both finished in the top 20 on Saturday as Irr shot a 80 (T-8th) and Freeman shot a 84 (T-17th). Levi Hassinger carded a 92, Matthew Salancy was two behind him with a 94 and Kamea Pearce shot a 112.
Mont Alto finished third in the event with a team score of 332. Kent State Tuscarawas placed first with a team score of 325.
Bassham won the individual title on Sunday with a one over 73. The rest of the Mont Alto golfers on Sunday finished in the top 20. Hassinger and Freeman both finished T-12th with an 85. Irr and Salancy were one stroke back of the others with a T-16th round of 86.
