Women's Basketball falls short to Schuylkill

Women's Basketball falls short to Schuylkill

Mont Alto Women's Basketball had a tough conference loss on Tuesday night.  They hosted Schuylkill and faced them for the second time this season.  The ladies defeated Schuylkill the first time but the second time around they fell short, 52-45.

"We struggled for the vast majority of the game to get anything going on offense," Head Coach Paul Lundy comments.  "The Schuylkill defense did a fantastic job of forcing us to take contested jumpers.  We lacked the patience to get good looks on many possessions and on others we settled for jumpers when we had opportunities to get into the paint for closer shots."

Alicia Detwiler (York, PA) was the leading scorer for Mont Alto with 11 points.  Megan Dougherty (Willow Hill, PA) snagged nine rebounds and Alexis Shaffer (Hagerstown, MD) added nine points for Mont Alto.

"I was proud of the team for the fact that after we got down double digits late in the game we did not quit and played hard.  We never could quite get the lead less than seven points.  We need to take the energy and enthusiasm we had in the last three minutes tonight and stretch that out and play that way for all 40 minutes," Coach Lundy added.

The ladies will be back on their home court this weekend.  Friday night they will host Greater Allegheny at 6:00 p.m. and Saturday Beaver at 1:00 p.m.
