The Penn State Mont Alto Women's Basketball team will look to 2021-22 as a chance to rebound off a 8-16 campaign in 2019-20. The team will return two of its leading scorers in West Division First Team All-Conference member Mariah Martin and PSUAC Honorable Mention Madison Bishop. Martin and Bishop will both look to take the next step offensively to help an offense that averaged 57.5 points per game in 2019-20. The squad will head to The Hill School in Amherst, NY this weekend to participate in the Bobcat Classic hosted by Bryant & Stratton College.

TOP RETURNERS

Mariah Martin comes into her senior season looking to be a force down low and on the defensive end. She led the team in 2019-20 with 14.4 points per game and played 32.2 minutes per game on average. She achieved a season-high total in points of 24 on multiple occasions in her sophomore campaign. She will be counted on to clean up on the boards and to be a double-double threat in 2021.

 

Madison Bishop is the team's second highest returning scorer at 11 PPG. Madison led the team in minutes in 2019-20 and shot 32% from the field and 28.4% from 3-point range. She has very active hands, averaging over a steal a game the last time out. She was an All-Conference Honorable Mention in 2019-20. 

 

Kara Newell was third on the team with 9.1 PPG in 2019-20. She was a key guard for Coach Miller during the 2019-20 season, playing nearly 35 minutes a contest. Kara's season high in points during the 2019-20 season was 23 at Penn State Scranton.

 

Kyah Rucker is another key contributor from the 2019-20 season looking to make an impact on this year's team. She started in 13 games two years ago for Coach Miller. She saw the floor an average of 25 minutes per game with 2.8 points per game. She will be expected to be an effective rebounder on this years squad with four boards per game on average.

 

Meagan Smith appeared in 15 games her sophomore season. She averaged 3.9 points per game and had a season-high 16 against Trinity Washington. 

 

NEWCOMERS

 

Chelsea Cover is a senior from Waynesboro who will look to factor into the rotation in 2021. In 16 games her sophomore season at Hagerstown CC, she averaged 17.7 PPG in 32 minutes a game. She also had a season high point total of 33 against Prince George's Community College. 

 

Colette Salyers is a 5 foot 8 combo player from Skyline High School in Front Royal, Virginia. She tallied four points, three steals and seven rebounds in 17 minutes of action against Central Penn on November 1.

 

Alexia Hackett is a 5 foot 5 guard from Largo High School in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. She scored four points in 18 minutes to go along with six rebounds in a exhibition against Central Penn on November 1.

 

Brianna Muldrow is a 5 foot 7 combo player from Frederick Douglass High School in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. She was active on the glass gaining three rebounds in 19 minutes in the November 1 exhibition.

 

Madison Blyler is a 5 foot 8 freshman guard from Susquenita High School in Duncannon, Pennsylvania. She was a key contributor on the women's PSUAC Soccer Championship Team and will look to continue to be a two sport standout at Mont Alto.
