Mont Alto Cross Country Shows Well at its Invitational

FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - The Penn State Mont Alto cross country teams hosted it's home invitational at nearby Norlo Park on Saturday morning with the women competing in a 6K race and the men in a 8K race. 

Sophomore Madison Ford (Fayetteville, Pa. / Chambersburg Area) earned medalist honors in the 6K race for Mont Alto, crossing the finish line at 30:53. Khelsa Connolly from Hagerstown Community College took first-place, while Joahlan Najunas from PSU Schuylkill took second. Freshman Elizabeth Parsons (Shade Gap, Pa. / Commonwealth Charter Academy) made her debut for Mont Alto and finished in 38:38, which was good for 18th.

The Mont Alto men had a quartet of runners competing in the 8K race with Henry Schmidt pacing the field from HCC at 28:30. Joel Minicozzi (Hedgesville, W.Va. / Hedgesville) was the top finisher for PSUMA at 17th (35:25) followed by Simon Egolf (Waynesboro, Pa. / Waynesboro Area) who finished 21st with a time of 36:50.  Freshman Andrew Walker (Carlisle, Pa. / Big Spring) placed 37th and Jacob Geesaman (Waynesboro, Pa. / Waynesboro Area) (47:23) finished 39th out of the 44-man field.

The Mont Alto cross country teams compete next at the Goucher College Cross Country Classic on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 10:30 a.m.
