PSUAC Playoffs Await Fall Sports Teams

The regular season finished up very strong for Women's Soccer, Men's Soccer, and Volleyball as Penn State Mont Alto hosted senior days for all three teams this weekend. The Women's Soccer team defeated Penn State Beaver 7-0, and the Men's Soccer team defeated Penn State Hazleton 6-1 on Saturday afternoon. In its tri-match, the volleyball team won both matches defeating Penn State Beaver in straight sets and Harford Community College in four sets. With the completion of the regular season, the teams now turn their attention towards the postseason. The Women's Soccer team is the #1 overall seed in the PSUAC, and the Volleyball team is the #1 seed out of the west division in the conference. The Men's Soccer team clinched the #6 seed in the men's PSUAC soccer championships.

 

Women's Soccer Preview

Saturday, October 30, 2:30 pm

#4 Penn State Brandywine (4-7, 3-5 PSUAC) @ #1 Penn State Mont Alto (11-2, 8-0 PSUAC)

Penn State Brandywine will travel to Mont Alto for Saturday's conference semifinal match. Their offensive leader is #12 Jolyn Walleekendeh, with 14 goals and two assists for 30 total points in the regular season. She has also recorded 39 shots on goal this season. The other top goal scorers are #13 Jess James and #5 Meltem Ozdemir who both have four goals on the year. Ozdemir is second on the team in points with 13. Goalkeeper Kiiani Banks has a 3.11 GAA on the season with a 3-5 record.

 

Penn State Mont Alto will come into this match riding a four-game winning streak as they are the top overall seed in the PSUAC. Madison Blyler (19) and Erika Padilla (16) have paced the offense in points so far this season. The backline has been strong all season as they have helped goalkeeper Jesime Freet to a .882% save percentage. Freet currently boasts a 0.75 GAA.   

 

Volleyball Preview

Thursday, October 28, 7:00 pm

#4 Penn State Fayette (11-8, 6-5 PSUAC) @ #1 Penn State Mont Alto (18-5, 10-2 PSUAC)

Penn State Fayette will travel to Mont Alto Thursday evening to face the #1 seed in the west division. Fayette is led by an attack of #22 Kristina Aeschbacher (164 kills), #16 Noelle Hunter (123 kills), and #12 Pasepa Driso-Buwawa (120 kills). #1 Jadyn Barnish (289 assists) and #23 Alie McGee (206 assists) lead the passing. Freshman #6 Kamden Miller leads the team in digs with 191. 

 

Penn State Mont Alto clinched the #1 seed in the west with a victory over Penn State Beaver on Sunday afternoon on Senior Day. Kylee Gooding leads the team in kills with 220. Gracie Vaughn (180 kills) and Leslie Huckle (120 kills) have also paced the offense this season. This season, Libero Rachel Manikowski has accumulated 469 digs and led the defense along with Kylie Denlinger's 257 digs.

 

Men's Soccer Preview

Wednesday, October 27, 4:00 pm

#6 Penn State Mont Alto (8-10, 5-5 PSUAC) @ #3 Penn State New Kensington (11-4, 8-2 PSUAC)

Penn State Mont Alto will travel to Penn State New Kensington to take on the #3 overall seed Penn State New Kensington. New Kensington has been led offensively by #9 Jacob Guerrini, who has 20 goals and six assists. #8 Jordan Cooper is second on the team with 14 goals and seven assists. Keeper #1 Pablo Rea has a 7-4 overall record and a 2.79 GAA for New Kensington.

 

Penn State Mont Alto has been led offensively by Aiyman Alsibae, who has eight goals and five assists so far this season. Brett Kauffman and Bryce Kylor both are in second with 16 total points. Thomas Oberholzer sits right behind them with six goals and two assists. Cole White has a 6-8 record in goal with a 2.74 GAA so far this season.
