UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State Mont Alto golf team once again attended a PSUAC Invitational in State College as golfers competed on the Blue Course on Monday afternoon. Mont Alto completed the event five-strokes behind tournament champion Penn State Wilkes-Barre who finished with a team score of 338.
The Lions posted a four-man output of 343 strokes as the team battled damp and cool conditions on the course.
PSU Wilkes-Barre's Jonathan Wilson picked up medalist honors with a 3-over par 75 as he won by three strokes over Mont Alto's Austin Green (Greencastle, Pa. / Chambersburg Area), who carded a 6-over par 78.
Noah Witmer (Greencastle, Pa. / Greencastle Antrim) carded an 86, while fellow freshman Cameron Lee (Warrenton, Va. / Fauquier) completed his round in 89 strokes. Robert Sirk (Waynesboro, Pa. / Waynesboro Area) fired a 90 and Matthew Lynerd (Greencastle, Pa. / Greencastle Antrim) totaled 96 strokes.
Next Wednesday, Penn State Mont Alto travels to the Hanover Country Club for the Gettysburg Invitational at 12:30 p.m.
