Men's soccer picks up key non-conference victory

Team Records:

Penn State Mont Alto 4-9 overall, 1-4 PSUAC

Williamson 2-3-1 overall, 0-1 conference

The story:

Following a hard fought contest against top-ranked Berkeley (NJ) on Tuesday evening, the men's soccer team rebounded nicely defeating Williamson College of the Trades 1-0 on an own goal in the 61st minute. The defense was able to record its second shutout of the season in the victory. Despite being outshot 16-14 by the opposition, the Nittany Lions hung tough to come out victorious. Penn State Mont Alto led in corner kicks by a margin of 4-3.

The leaders:

  • Freshman goalkeeper Cole White (Sewickley, PA) stopped all eight of his shots on goal faced to register the shutout.

  • Scott Wilshire led Williamson's offensive effort with a team-high three shots on goal. Brandon Cairy and William Tilly were able to get two shots on goal a piece.

Up next: The men's soccer team will have a home match on Saturday afternoon versus Penn State Wilkes-Barre, start time is slated for 1pm.
