Cover Leads Women's Basketball To Tournament Split

The women's basketball team wrapped up their season opening tournament on Sunday, earning a split after falling yesterday to Bryant and Stratton College. On Sunday, they defeated Andrews 53-45 behind Chelsea Cover's team-high 16 points. Cover also generated four steals and led the team with five assists. 

Mariah Martin bounced back from only three shot attempts on Saturday afternoon to be second on the team with seven points on the day. She also recorded three rebounds. Balanced scoring was the name of the game to obtain the victory on Sunday as Kara Newell (6), Madison Bishop (6) and Brianna Muldrow (5) all helped pace the Mont Alto offense to victory.

Andrews was led by Sarah Page who scored a team-high 16 points, playing in every minute of Sunday's contest. Maci Chen scored ten points and recorded nine rebounds for the opposition. 

Each team shot right around 32% from the field as Andrews shot 16-for-50 and Mont Alto was 21-for-65 from the field. Both teams went cold from deep, combining for three makes on 24 attempts from long range. The turnover department haunted Mont Alto on Saturday, committing 29 turnovers. However, on Sunday the would return the favor, generating 34 Andrew turnovers on the day.
