Women's Soccer Wins 2021 PSUAC Championship

The Penn State Mont Alto women's soccer team capped off a perfect conference season en route to the 2021 PSUAC Women's Soccer Championship. They faced the #2 seeded Penn State Schuylkill squad, which they defeated twice earlier in the year by a combined margin of 13-1. The thirty-degree temperatures couldn't cool off this Mont Alto offense, as Erika Padilla scored her 12th goal of the season minutes before the halftime horn to send Mont Alto into the half with the lead. Avery Diehl picked up where she left off in Sunday's semifinal match with the insurance goal with minutes remaining in the championship contest. That goal was her ninth of the season, she is second on the team in goals.

Following a 2-0 loss to Washington Adventist on October 15, the team went on a six-game winning streak, five of which were shutouts. The streak could've extended the entire winning streak if it weren't for a ball just crossing the goal line in Sunday's contest. Mont Alto held the lead in shots on goal 7-6 over Penn State Schuylkill. Kara Newell assisted on the Padilla tally, and Yvanna Ruano recorded the assist on the Diehl goal.

Minutes before the contest started, the fate of the women's soccer team was determined as the USCAA hosted their bid selection show. Mont Alto received the #4 seed and is in a pool with #1 seed Paul Smith's College and the #5 seed Johnson & Wales. Pool play will take place November 13 and 14 in Virginia Beach.
