On Wednesday evening in front of a raucous crowd, the Penn State Mont Alto volleyball team marched onto the PSUAC Semifinals with a defeat of Penn State Fayette three sets to one. The win sets up a match with the #3 seed from the east division Penn State Schuylkill, who knocked off #2 seed Penn State Brandywine. The match is set for Monday evening at Rec Hall, first serve is at 5 pm. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

-Mont Alto took the first two sets 25-15 and 25-18 until things got a little interesting in the third set. Penn State Fayette, who won the last two conference titles in 2018 and 2019, found a little momentum to take an epic set three 25-23. Mont Alto stormed back to clinch a berth in the semifinals with a convincing 25-20 win in set four.

-Kylie Gooding (11 kills, 21 digs) and Gracie Vaughn (11 kills) led the offensive output for Mont Alto

-Caroline Blickley (8 kills) and Leslie Huckle (6 kills) also continued their strong play on the front line

-USCAA Setter of the Week Kylie Denlinger set up her teammates on 42 assists

-Rachel Manikowski powered the defensive effort with 31 digs

-Kylie Gooding (1 solo, 6 block assists) and Gracie Vaughn (7 block assists) led the blocking effort
