Mont Alto Drops Title Match To Top-Seeded UC-Clermont

One of the best seasons in Mont Alto women's volleyball history ended Saturday evening to top-seeded UC-Clermont. UC-Clermont defeated Mont Alto in straight sets. For seniors Rachel Manikowski, Kimmy Harker, and Alyssa Roberts, it is the end of a fantastic journey with Head Coach Randy Hood and the rest of their teammates. The 22-7 record is the best record a Mont Alto volleyball team has achieved in the last ten seasons. Randy Hood's first recruiting class will leave Mont Alto with a 50-31 record, three PSUAC Playoff, and a USCAA National Championship game appearance.

Mont Alto faced off against this top-seeded UC-Clermont team once before on September 25 and lost in four sets. UC-Clermont came into this contest with only three blemishes on their record at 22-3.

Clermont took set one by a tally of 25-18. They would then win the following two sets convincingly, 25-14 and 25-12. Kennedy Robinson and Kara Heckmuller led the offense output for Clermont with eight kills each. Zoe England tallied seven kills and 14 assists on the day.

Senior Rachel Manikowski added ten digs to her career total 1,076. She recently switched positions from outside hitter to defensive specialist and was a force all season long for Mont Alto. In 2018 Rachel recorded 101 kills, with 103 in 2019.

Senior Kimmy Harker recorded two kills on Saturday on nine attempts. She also recorded a dig. For her career, she tallied 181 kills and 118 digs. In 2019, Kimmy recorded a career-high 106 kills for Mont Alto.

The final senior for this year is Alyssa Roberts. On Saturday, she added four digs to her career total of 560. She tallied 11 kills to go along with 375 assists in her career.

Mont Alto's Kylie Gooding and Gracie Vaughn were selected for the USCAA All-Tournament team.
