Baseball drops two games to Greater Allegheny

 

Penn State Mont Alto's Baseball team played a tough Penn State Greater Allegheny team on Saturday.  Mont Alto lost both games in the conference double-header.  Losing the first game 11-1 in five innings and dropping the second 9-1. 

 

Greater Allegheny held Mont Alto to only two hits in the first game by Tanner Kibe and Aaron Maze.   Mont Alto committed six costly errors in game one.

 

With Chase King on the mound for the first four innings, Greater Allegheny scored nine runs and only three being earned runs.  King allowed ten hits, four walks and had two strikeouts.  Shane McCartney finished the game on the mound, pitching 0.2 innings.  He allowed three hits and two runs, only one of the runs being earned.

 

 

In game two, Mont Alto only had two hits again.  Kibe and Matt Clark each recorded a single.

 

Mont Alto continued to make errors in the second game that cost them more runs.  Seven errors were committed by Mont Alto to Greater Allegheny's one error.

 

Derek Coy pitched the whole game from Mont Alto, giving up eight hits and four walks.  Nine runs were scored, six were earned.  Coy struck out two batters.

 

Mont Alto has two more regular season games left against Worthington-Scranton.  Their playoff chances will be determined by those results and how other teams finish in the next couple of days.

 

Mont Alto heads to Penn State Worthington Scranton on Tuesday, April 23rd.
