Jeremiah Younker Earns PSUAC Hitter of the Week Honors

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Three-time USCAA All-American Jeremiah Younker (Hagerstown, Md. / Williamsport) of the Penn State Mont Alto baseball team was named hitter of the week by the Penn State University Athletic Conference on Tuesday.

Younker produced an outstanding week at the plate, driving in nine runs on 10 hits, which included six extra-base hits. He hit for the cycle in Saturday's 17-2 win over New Kensington, including a two-run homer in the fourth inning that blew the game open. Overall, he managed two doubles and three triples to go along with his home run.

The senior also scored eight runs and earned his first victory of the season on the mound against New Kensington in the second game of the doubleheader tossing five innings where he recorded six strikeouts, while giving up a pair of runs.

Younker leads Mont Alto with his 20 RBIs, which also ranks first within the PSUAC. His .395 batting average ranks ninth within the league and his 30 hits ranks second to teammate Chayse Fisher (Mercersburg, Pa. / James Buchanan) who has a formed a one-two punch within the middle of PSUMA's lineup.

Mont Alto (11-11) continues PSUAC play this afternoon with a nine-inning road game against Penn State New Kensington. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
