Younker’s Pair of Home Runs Power Mont Alto Past Dickinson College

MONT ALTO, Pa. – Senior Jeremiah Younker (Hagerstown, Md. / Williamsport) blasted a pair of homers including a grand slam to lead the Penn State Mont Alto baseball team in Wednesday's 19-7 win over Dickinson College. The Nittany Lions closed out their regular season with a 24-16 overall record and were 11-4 in the PSUAC.

The Red Devils got on the board first in the top of the third plating a run on a Max Matilsky sacrifice fly. Mont Alto would respond with eight runs in the bottom half of the frame including Younker's grand slam. PSUMA's bottom half of the lineup then produced three-straight RBI singles with Colby Black's (Shippensburg, Pa. / Big Spring) knock to center field driving in both Caleb Leggett (Williamsport, Md. / Williamsport) and Chance McClure (Chambersburg, Pa. / Chambersburg Area).

In his very next at-bat in the fourth inning Jeremiah Younker (Hagerstown, Md. / Williamsport) blasted a solo homer to left field giving Mont Alto the 9-1 lead. The team would score three more runs an inning later. Hunter Martin (Hagerstown, Md. / North Hagerstown) drove in a pair on a deep double to left field and AJ Millar (Harrisburg, Pa. / Central Dauphin) hit a sacrifice fly.

Mont Alto scored three more runs on a Chayse Fisher (Mercersburg, Pa. / James Buchanan) double and Bryce Kendall (Chambersburg, Pa. / Chambersburg Area) RBI single to right field.

The visitors scored three runs in the top of the eighth, but the Lions bats responded again with five more runs of their own to go up 19-4. Dickinson did score three runs in the final inning before McClure educed a groundout to end the game. Colin Osborne (Williamsport, Md. / Williamsport) earned the win for PSUMA as five other pitchers saw time on the mound. 

Mont Alto will be the No. 2 seed from the PSUAC West Division and will host No. 3 Penn State Greater Allegheny on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in a tournament elimination game. The winner will move on within the PSUAC Baseball Championships taking place at Showers Field in DuBois, Pa. on May 5-6.
