DuBois, Pa. – It was a pitching duel as soon as both starters stepped on the rubber on Tuesday at the USCAA Small College World Series with the No. 1 seeded Cincinnati-Clermont and No. 4 seeded Penn State Mont Alto playing 1-0 thrilling contest in favor of the Cougars.

Both teams mustered three hits each and Cincinnati-Clermont loaded the bases up with one-out in the bottom of the seventh inning that set the stage for a Wyatt Caldwall walk-off sacrifice fly. Mont Alto remain alive within the USCAA Small College World Series but now must win three-straight games to be crowned National Champions.

Matt Huston (McConnellsburg, Pa. / McConnellsburg) twirled the ball extremely well for the Nittany Lions as he struck out two and worked his way out of an early jam picking off a Cougar base runner at first base.

Penn State Mont Alto nearly tallied the opening run of the game in the top half of the sixth inning when they had runners on the corners with two-outs. Cincinnati-Clermont starting pitcher Drew Day pitched his way out of trouble forcing a Hayden Kissel (Chambersburg, Pa. / Chambersburg Area) fielder's choice to end the inning. Day worked a spotless seventh frame to setup for the walk-off situation.

Mont Alto will look to climb from the loser's bracket after such a thrilling contest and will square off against Bryant & Stratton Albany this evening at 8:30 p.m. The No. 8 seed beat the No. 7 seeded Mid Atlantic Christian by a 11-7 score.
