DuBois, Pa. – The Penn State Mont Alto baseball team just couldn't string enough hits together on Tuesday evening as they dropped a 5-1 contest to Bryant & Stratton College- Albany as part of the USCAA Small College World Series. With the loss, the No. 4 seeded Mont Alto's 2021 season concludes with a 25-7 overall record.

Both Chance McClure (Chambersburg, Pa. / Chambersburg Area) and Hayden Kissel (Chambersburg, Pa. / Chambersburg Area) finished with two hits apiece as Mont Alto totaled six hits but were only 1-for-7 with runners in scoring position against the Bobcats. They tallied the opening run of the game in the top of the first inning with back-to-back hard-hit singles.

Bryant & Stratton maintained its 1-0 lead until the fifth inning when Mario Machado produced a pitch hit two-run single off Mont Alto reliever Tyler Moreland (Spring Mills, W.Va. / Spring Mills) putting the Bobcats up 3-0. Mont Alto countered with an RBI single from Chance McClure (Chambersburg, Pa. / Chambersburg Area) in the bottom half of the frame.

Trailing 3-1, Mike Santos put the game out of reach for the No. 6 seed in the World Series with a two-run blast in the seventh inning. Ryan Catyb got the win on the mound striking out four PSUMA batters.

Bryant & Stratton- Albany move on to the next round of the tournament where they will play Mississippi University for Women on Wednesday.
