Baseball’s four game winning streak snapped

Game Recap

Following a doubleheader sweep of Bucks County Community College Sunday afternoon, the Penn State Mont Alto baseball team hit the road to face off against Messiah University on Monday. The Penn State Mont Alto offense mustered only four hits as they dropped the non-conference game by a score of 7-0. Noah Stein pitched eight innings for Messiah, striking out nine batters. Trystan Housman got the start for Penn State Mont Alto, pitching five innings while striking out three.

 

How It Happened

Dustin Isanogle walked in the bottom of the first inning then quickly scored as Sam Zercher doubled to right center field. Kasey Caras followed that up with a walk and Sam Zercher worked his way around the bases by stealing third and scoring on a throwing error by Jonathan Lentvorsky. Messiah University led 2-0 after the first inning.

 

Dustin Isanogle singled to left field in the bottom of the second inning, plating Mason Valentino to stretch the Falcons lead to three after two innings of play. Messiah scratched across two more runs when Dustin Isanogle reached first on a throwing error by Hayden Kissel. Reed Wagner and Jarrett Gordon both scored on the error. Messiah led 5-0 after four innings.

 

In the home half of the seventh inning, Dustin Isanogle started the inning with a single up the middle. Sam Zercher followed that up with his second double of the afternoon. Kasey Caras hit a sacrifice fly to left center scoring the Falcons sixth run of the contest. Joshua Ammons stole second base and Sam Zercher came around to score on a throwing error by Jonathan Lentvorsky. Messiah led 7-0 after the seventh inning.
