Game Story

Penn State Mont Alto won its conference opener on Friday afternoon, defeating Penn State Fayette 7-2. Matt Huston earned the start, throwing five innings and striking out four batters. Jared Pine went 2 for 5 at the dish and Michael Scott recorded two doubles to pace the Penn State Mont Alto offense. Brady Bigler stole two bases and scored three runs in the winning effort. 

 

Mont Alto scored two runs in the top of the first inning when Brady Bigler and Jared Pine both scored on a Penn State Fayette error. Michael Scott scored on a Caiden Smith strikeout in the 2nd inning, giving Penn State Mont Alto a 3-0 advantage. Hayden Kissel scored Brady Bigler on a RBI groundout in the 3rd. In the 5th inning, Chance McClure scored Brady Bigler on a RBI single. Penn State Fayette answered back, scoring a run in the bottom of the 5th inning on a Kyle Ridley single. Scott scored Tyler Moreland on a RBI double in the top of the 6th, putting Penn State Mont Alto up 6-1. Kaleb Scott recorded his team-high third hit of the day in the bottom of the 8th inning for Penn State Fayette, scoring Nate Zimcosky and trimming the deficit to four runs at 6-2. Brady Bigler provided some ninth inning insurance when he plated Caiden Smith on a sacrifice fly.
