Seventh inning rally fuels Penn State Mont Alto

Game One: Penn State Mont Alto 6, Central Penn 4

 

Game Story

Following a weekend sweep against Penn State Fayette, Penn State Mont Alto faced off against Central Penn in a doubleheader at FNB Field on Wednesday. Luke Michaels drew the start in game one, tossing five innings and striking out one batter. Luke Davis came in to relieve Michaels, pitching two innings while striking out two. Davis earned the victory in game one. Brady Bigler led Penn State Mont Alto with a 3 for 5 effort. Penn State Mont Alto took its first lead of the afternoon in the top of the third inning when Tyler Moreland plated Bigler on a sacrifice fly. Penn State Mont Alto led 2-1 after two and a half innings of play. Central Penn's Zach Boyer recorded RBI hits in the third and fifth inning to push the home team up 3-2 after five innings. Tyler Moreland plated Jared Pine and Brady Bigler on a two run RBI in the top of the sixth to retake the lead 4-3. Central Penn tied the score in the sixth at 4-4. Bigler doubled in the top of the seventh, plating Caiden Smith. Hayden Kissel reached on an error, scoring Bigler and pushing the Mont Alto lead to 6-4.

Game Two: Penn State Mont Alto 6, Central Penn 1

 

Game Story

Darian Mort earned the start in game two, pitching a strong five innings and striking out seven hitters. Caiden Smith and Hayden Kissel combined for five strikeouts in two innings of relief to complete the doubleheader sweep. Tyler Moreland put Penn State Mont Alto up early on a two RBI double, plating Chance McClure and Jared Pine. In the fourth inning, Brady Bigler recorded a two RBI single scoring Jared Pine and Gavin Kissel. Penn State Mont Alto added on more insurance runs in the top of the sixth inning on a Jared Pine triple to the right center gap. The visitors led 6-0 after six innings of play. Kevon Davis helped push across Central Penn's only run of the game on an RBI single in the bottom half of the sixth.
