Game Story

Penn State Mont Alto baseball traveled to Penn State New Kensington on Saturday afternoon for its first game since last Sunday. Trystan Housman got the start and earned the victory. He pitched five innings, striking out five batters and allowing two earned runs. For Housman, Saturday's win was his third on the season. Jared Pine paced the Mont Alto offense with a 3 for 5 afternoon, recording two doubles, a triple and two RBI's. Chance McClure and Gavin Kissel each drove in two runs. The bullpen was strong in relief of Housman, pitching four shutout innings and scattering only four hits. 

 

Chance McClure got the scoring started in the first inning on a single to left center field, he plated Brady Bigler and Jared Pine on the play to give Penn State Mont Alto a 2-0 lead. Max Oliveri scored a run on a walk in the bottom half of the inning to get Penn State New Kensington on the scoreboard. Gavin Kissel doubled to right center field in the following inning to push the Mont Alto lead back up to two runs. In the bottom of the second inning, Oliveri recorded a sacrifice fly to cut the deficit to 3-2. Penn State Mont Alto would add on in the fourth and fifth innings, scoring five runs over two innings. Brady Bigler scored Gavin Kissel on a RBI single in the fourth inning. Jarrett Goodyear doubled in Tyler Moreland in the top of the 5th to give the visitors a 6-2 advantage. Jared Pine tripled to continue the inning, scoring Gavin Kissel and Jarrett Goodyear, pushing the lead to 8-2 after five innings of play. Oliveri recorded a two RBI double in the home half of the 9th inning for Penn State New Kensington, but it wasn't enough for a comeback. Penn State Mont Alto took game one by a final of 8-4. 

 

The final two games of the series will conclude at Penn State Mont Alto on Sunday, April 10, game times are scheduled for 2 and 4 p.m.
