Miami-Hamilton 9, Penn State Mont Alto 4
Miami-Hamilton scored four runs in the top of the second inning on their way to a 9-4 victory against Penn State Mont Alto in game one of the team's spring trip at the Jackie Robinson Training Complex in Vero Beach, Fl. Gavin Kissel went 2 for 3 and Tyler Moreland supplied two runs batted in to lead the Mont Alto offensive effort.
-Connor Orner got Mont Alto ahead early with his RBI hit in the bottom of the first inning, plating Brady Bigler who led off the inning with a walk.
-Miami-Hamilton generated three straight scoring plays in the following half inning to plate four runs to take an early 4-1 lead. Daulton Miller led off the inning with a hit by pitch. Leo Hennegan scored the first run of the second inning with a bases-loaded hit by pitch RBI. Stephen Stigler followed that up with a hit by pitch of his own on the next at-bat. Joe Requarth later doubled to left field, scoring two runs and putting Miami-Hamilton up 4-1 after one and a half innings.
-Tyler Moreland recorded a big hit in the bottom of the third inning when he scored Kyle McKeon and Jared Pine on a RBI single to right field. Mont Alto trailed 4-3 after three innings.
-Miami-Hamilton scored five runs over the sixth, seventh and eighth innings to take a 9-3 lead after eight innings. Stigler had a RBI triple in the top of the sixth and Requarth homered in the eighth inning to provide the seperation.
-Brady Bigler scored Michael Scott on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth to trim the deficit to 9-4.
