Baseball wins two over DuBois

Baseball wins two over DuBois

Game One: Penn State Mont Alto 3, Penn State DuBois 1

Zach Garlin tossed a complete game in game one of the doubleheader on Sunday, striking out 10 batters and allowing just five hits in the winning effort. Caiden Smith had the most hits for the Nittany Lions as he went 3 for 4 with a RBI. Jared Pine, Tyler Moreland and Kyle McKeon each recorded two hits.

Michael Scott and Jarrett Goodyear each had RBI base hits in the top of the first inning as Mont Alto lead 2-0 after the top of the first inning. Corey Lehman plated Brett Beith for the home team in the very next half inning to trim the deficit to 2-1. The pitchers duel ensued between Garlin and DuBois starter Zach Tiracorda throughout much of the game until the top of the seventh inning when Caiden Smith added an insurance run with his single which score Gavin Kissel.

DuBois left one baserunner on in the home half of the seventh inning as their comeback effort fell short in the first meeting between the two PSUAC West Division foes for the first time since the 2022 PSUAC title game.
