Mont Alto picks up two conference home wins against Beaver

Game One: Penn State Mont Alto 14, Penn State Beaver 0 (F/5)

 

Penn State Mont Alto avenged a three game losing streak, defeating Penn State Beaver by a final of 14-0 in the first game on the conference doubleheader on Friday. Braden Zeger and Nate Smith each supplied RBI doubles in the bottom of the first inning to supply a 4-0 lead. Zeger unloaded the bases on his hit and Smith scored two on his for the early advantage.

 

Jarrett Goodyear and Tyler Moreland had the key hits in the bottom of the second inning for Mont Alto as they tacked on five runs with four hits to lead 9-0 after two innings. Goodyear later plated two more runs in the bottom of the third inning to put Mont Alto ahead 11-0 after three innings.

 

Michael Scott scored two on his triple to right field early in the bottom of the fourth inning. Kyle Neuendorf plated Scott on his RBI single later in the inning. Kyle Nolan pitched an effective top of the fifth to preserve the 14-0 lead in the top of the fifth inning. Garlin earned his third win of the season by striking out 10 of 14 batters faced and allowing only two hits in four innings of work.

Game Two: Penn State Mont Alto 14, Penn State Beaver 2 (F/5)

 

Penn State Mont Alto used a balanced attack, scoring in four of the five innings in game two to pick up another PSUAC victory by a final of 14-2. Penn State Beaver struck first with a RBI single from Aaron Stribing in the top of the first inning. Mont Alto quickly responded when Caiden Smith scored Jared Pine and Blake Orndorff on his RBI triple to right field.

 

Mont Alto would add two more runs in the next inning when Brady Bigler scored Gavin Kissel on a RBI single. Mont Alto led 4-1 after two innings. Jacob Gresham recorded a RBI single in the top half of the third inning to trim the deficit to 4-2 after two and a half innings.

 

Mont Alto added on eight runs in the bottom of the fourth and fifth innings to build a twelve run lead. Caiden Smith had the key hit in the fourth inning, a 2 RBI single up the middle. Jared Pine, Connor Orner and Caiden Smith each recorded RBI's in the fifth inning to extend the lead.

 

Elijah Snyder earned his second win on the season by tossing five innings of four hit ball and striking out five batters.
