Baseball picks up two wins on senior day

Game One: Penn State Mont Alto 3, Penn State New Kensington 1

 

Trystan Housman went the distance, tossing seven innings of three hit ball as Mont Alto picked up a game one victory behind two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Brady Bigler had a team-leading two hits in the winning effort.

 

Braden Tristani got New Kensington on the board in the top of the third inning on a RBI single. Mont Alto tied the game in the home half of the inning as Caiden Smith plated Bigler on his RBI single.

 

Jared Pine walked to lead off the bottom of the fifth inning and Bigler followed that up with a single to put two runners on with nobody out. Smith laid down a sacrifice bunt which led to a Jarrett Goodyear walk to load the bases. Michael Scott push the Mont Alto lead to 2-1 on a hit by pitch and Gavin Kissel scored Bigler on a RBI groundout.

 

Jake Wilson reached base in the top of the seventh to start a New Kensington rally, but the next three batters were retired in order to end the game.

Game Two: Penn State Mont Alto 12, Penn State New Kensington 1 (F/5)

 

Penn State Mont Alto scored seven runs in the home half of the bottom of the first inning and Elijah Snyder pitched four innings while striking out six as Mont Alto defeated New Kensington 12-1 in five innings to preserve the sweep. 

 

Caiden Smith, Jarrett Goodyear, Michael Scott and Gavin Kissel all recorded RBI hits as Mont Alto scored seven runs on five hits in the bottom of the first inning.

 

Mont Alto extended its lead to eight when Blake Orndorff scored Bigler on a sacrifice fly. Max Oliveri got New Kensington on the board in the top of the third inning on a RBI single.

 

Braden Zeger scored Gavin Kissel on his RBI double to left field in the bottom of the third inning. Mont Alto added some insurance runs in the bottom of the fourth inning as Trystan Housman recorded an RBI on a sacrifice fly and Zach Garlin followed that up with a 2 RBI triple to the right center gap.
