Early deficit looms large as Mont Alto bows out of PSUAC Baseball Playoffs

PSUAC Baseball Playoffs: Penn State York 4, Penn State Mont Alto 2

 

Penn State York utilized a three run top of the first inning against Penn State Mont Alto in the PSUAC Baseball Playoffs at Medlar Field on Sunday afternoon, as Mont Alto bowed out of the playoffs following a 4-2 loss to the cross division opponent.

 

Nathaniel Uzela led off the top of the first inning with a single and was later scored the next batter on a Nathan Fowler double. Brandon Shirk and Shane Hulbert each recorded RBI hits later in the inning as Penn State York led 3-0 after one half inning. Mont Alto battled back in the bottom of the first inning when they capitalized on some Penn State York miscues. Jarrett Goodyear and Caiden Smith each scored runners when they reached back on errors. Mont Alto trailed 3-2 following one inning of play.

 

Brandon Ritchey tacked on an insurance run for Penn State York in the top of the second inning as Mont Alto trailed 4-2. The Mont Alto offense would record four hits in the final five innings and couldn't cut into the deficit to keep their conference season alive.
