Mont Alto loses to DuBois 2-0 in Small College World Series

USCAA Small College World Series: Penn State DuBois 2, Penn State Mont Alto 0

For the second time in near as many weeks, Penn State DuBois got the best of Mont Alto during the winner's bracket of the Small College World Series on Tuesday evening. The game was another pitcher's duel as the two team's met in the conference playoffs in early May with DuBois taking that game as well by a final of 2-1.

Mont Alto starter Trystan Housman went six innings, tossing nine strikeouts and allowing three hits. Zach Tiracorda recorded a complete game for DuBois, striking out eight batters and also allowing just three hits.

Both teams went scoreless until DuBois got on the board in the top of the fourth inning when Cory Lehman singled up the middle to score Grant Lilliard. DuBois would tack on another run in the top of the fifth inning on a Colby Bodtorf RBI groundout.

The Mont Alto offense was held in check in the fifth and sixth innings and made a rally attempt in the seventh. Brady Bigler singled to shortstop to begin the inning and Jarrett Goodyear singled up the middle with one down. Michael Scott struck out swinging to send Mont Alto to its final out. Gavin Kissel couldn't continue the rally as he popped up to second base to end the game. With the loss, Mont Alto now moves into the loser's bracket to face an opponent to be determined later today in a 8:30 p.m. start time from Showers Field.
