Baseball drops doubleheader to Apprentice

Game One: Apprentice 11, Penn State Mont Alto 5

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-After a scoreless top of the first inning, Kyle McKeon plated Jarrett Goodyear for Mont Alto to take an early 1-0 lead.

-In the bottom half of the second inning, Apprentice plated six runs on six hits to take a 6-1 advantage.

-Cameron Bailey hit a RBI double and Jarrett Goodyear provided a RBI single to cut the lead in half, after two and a half innings Apprentice led 6-3.

-Riggs Ellis doubled in a run in the following half inning to get one of those Mont Alto runs back.

-Apprentice scored four runs on four hits in the bottom of the fourth to lead 11-3.

-Jonathan Lentvorsky scored Blake Orndorff on a RBI single to right field in the top of the fifth and Garrett Rosenberry scored Orndorff on a RBI single to left field in the top of the seventh. The Mont alto rally ended with two fly outs as Apprentice took game one 11-5.

 

Game Two: Apprentice 11, Penn State Mont Alto 3

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-Riggs Ellis got Apprentice on the board in the first inning with a single through the left side to plate Nate Yeary.

-Mont Alto tied the game in the top of the second when Kyle McKeon reached on an error.

-Blake Orndorff gave Mont Alto the lead 2-1 with a single through the right side, plating Brady Bigler in the top of the third inning.

-Apprentice responded with three runs in the home half to take a 4-2 lead.

-Bigler plated Braden Zeger in the top of the sixth to trim the deficit to 4-3.

-Apprentice opened the game up by scoring seven runs on three hits and three Mont Alto errors to win 11-3.
