Baseball splits opening day of non-conference road series with Apprentice

Penn State Mont Alto 4, Apprentice 1 

 

Penn State Mont Alto Baseball traveled to Apprentice for a p matchup and a double header. Game number one went Mont Alto's way as they would win 4-1 giving Apprentice their first loss of the season.   

 

Apprentice would kick off the scoring after a double to start the inning from Camden Richardson. After a fielding error by Mont Alto, Richardson would score, and Harmon would get the RBI.  

 

In the top of the fifth inning a double from Garrett Worth would score two runs and Mont Alto would take the lead 2-1.   

 

In the top of the sixth Mont Alto's Cameron Bailey would double which scores two more runs, making the score 4-1 in favor of Mont Alto. Mont Alto would hang on to the lead for the remainder of the game.

Penn State Mont Alto traveled to Apprentice for a USCAA matchup and a double header. In the second game, a long game would end in the bottom of the 9th as Apprentice would hit a walk-off winning 5-4 over Mont Alto. 

 

Jett Winslow would get the scoring started off in the first with an RBI single. Mason Cox would also have an RBI single in the bottom of the inning making the score 2-0 in favor of Apprentice.  

 

In the top of the third inning Nate Smith would score on a wild pitch making the score 2-1 in favor of Apprentice. In the bottom of the third inning Mason Cox would ground out to SS and a run would score on the play making the score 3-1.  

 

In the fourth inning, Mont Alto's John Copenhaver would get an RBI single, making the score 3-2 in favor of Apprentice. Jeremy Harmon would hit an RBI single making the score 4-2.  

In the sixth inning, Mont Alto would score 2 runs and tie the game at 4-4 after a RBI single by Braden Zeger.  

 

In the bottom of the 9th inning, a walk off RBI single from Caleb Russell would win Apprentice the game 5-4 in extra innings.
