Baseball remains atop PSUAC East following weekend

Game One: Penn State Mont Alto 8, Penn State Schuylkill 1

 

Mont Alto picked up a win in the first game of their away series with Penn State Schuylkill on Saturday with a 8-1 win.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-Following two scoreless frames, Braden Zeger pushed across Caiden Smith as Mont Alto took a 1-0 lead.

-Zeger recorded a RBI single in the top of the fifth to plate John Copenhaver. Wyatt Kissel would score Caiden Smith to push the advantage to 3-0.

-Mont Alto received RBI hits from John Copenhaver, Caiden Smith, Braden Zeger and James Sibert to break open the scoring in the top of the sixth to move ahead 8-0.

-Schuylkill's comeback effort fell short as they scored just one run in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Game Two: Penn State Schuylkill 6, Penn State Mont Alto 2

 

Penn State Schuylkill was able to rally late in game two to even up the season series 2-2 making the east division race that much tighter heading into the final weekend of play.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-Garrett Worth singled up the middle plating Braden Zeger to get the scoring started in the top of the first.

-Roman Cieless plated RayJay Marmolejos on a RBI groundout to trim the Mont Alto lead to 2-1. Cieless scored Licklider on a fly out to even the score at 2-2.

-The game opened up in the bottom of the sixth inning as Schuylkill scored four runs, capped off by an Owen Zimmerman single to right field which scored two runs. Schuylkill went on to take game two 6-2.
