PSUAC Baseball Championship: Mont Alto 14, DuBois 4
Brady Bigler's 126th pitch of the afternoon at Showers Field was a fly ball which allowed the anticipation to build for a few seconds until Braden Zeger camped under it and sealed the final out. All nine Mont Alto starters rushed towards the mound in celebration, many tossing their hats and gloves in the air in a full on sprint to the mound. The Mont Alto coaching staff exchanging hugs and handshakes in the third base dugout as the squad just defeated DuBois twice in a row to capture the 2025 PSUAC Baseball Championship. The team never quit after losing to DuBois in the winner's bracket on Saturday, losing a 4-2 lead in the seventh.
This tournament was full of amazing offensive performances and a great display of pitching depth to escape the three day gauntlet. Bigler, who was called upon as Mont Alto played its sixth game in three games, kept the DuBois offense off track all afternoon by pounding the zone and finishing off the complete game performance.
Trailing 1-0 in the first inning, Carter Fogal hit a home run to give Mont Alto a 2-1 lead. The following inning, Mont Alto threatened again by loading the bases for Caiden Smith. Smith took a Zach Witherow offering way over the 315' fence in right center for a grand slam and a 6-1 Mont Alto lead.
DuBois would battle back and trailed 6-4 heading into the fifth inning. Carter Fogal and Braden Zeger had big RBI hits in the bottom of the fifth inning as Mont Alto added on five big insurance runs. As no lead was safe at Showers Field this past weekend, Mont Alto was able to continue to put the ball in play, scratching three more runs across in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Kyle Neuendorf was key defensively in the top of the seventh, making two keys plays to push Mont Alto to one out away from a championship. Bigler was able to pop Bryce Dobson up for the final out of the game as Mont Alto won 14-4.
