Ramsey earns second career cheerleader of the month honor

MONT ALTO, Pa. — The Penn State Mont Alto cheerleading squad has named senior captain Taylor Ramsey (Shippensburg, Pa./Shippensburg HS) its January cheerleader of the month.

This is the second time Ramsey has earned the honor in her career; she was also the team's November 2021 cheerleader of the month.

Ramsey, a backspot and base, was nominated by her teammates for her leadership and versatility.

"Taylor elevates her teammates with her upbeat personality and constant willingness to try new skills," said head coach Jennifer Deinlein. "It's also been a lot of fun to see her personality really shine on the court this year. She's always had solid skills, but last year we cheered in masks and it hid her facial expressions. Now we can see her full-out, and it's awesome."

The cheerleader of the month is determined by team nominations and goes to a squad member who stands out in her efforts on and off the court.

The Penn State Mont Alto cheerleading squad cheers at all home men's and women's basketball games. They are back in action this Saturday, Feb. 11, as both basketball teams take on Penn State Fayette. This will also be Senior Night, and Ramsey will be recognized prior to the start of the men's game.
