Men's Basketball drops a close game to York, 69-65

On Saturday, two of the top men's basketball teams in the PSUAC met for the first time this season.  Both Mont Alto and York went into the game undefeated in the conference.  After a close match up, York snagged the win 69-65.

"It was a very good game," Head Coach Jack Schenzel comments.  "Both teams made big runs, York started the game 29-13.  We were able to come back and take a brief lead before halftime. The second half York went on one of their big runs with eight minutes left and we fought back and had the opportunity to tie the game from the foul line with 10 seconds left.  Unfortunately we weren't able to close out the game," Schenzel adds.

Mont Alto had three players scoring in double digits.  Starting guard, Corey Meyers (Greencastle, PA/Greencastle-Antrim) recorded 13 points.  Once again the bench was solid for Mont Alto.  Jerome Evans (Carlisle, PA/Carlisle) was the leading scorer with 15 points and eight rebounds.  Jamaal Carter (Harrisburg, PA/Harrisburg) contributed five assists and 10 points.

"I am proud of the guys for the way the fought the entire game.  This was truly a matchup of two of the top five teams in the USCAA.  Coach Petry does a great job with his program," Coach Schenzel added.

Mont Alto is 13-2 overall and 7-1 in the PSUAC.  "This loss does not take us out of anything or any of our team goals.  The team is committed to finishing the season strong."

The men will be on the road Wednesday January 22nd for another PSUAC game against Lehigh Valley at 8:00 p.m.  This is the second time Mont Alto will face Lehigh Valley this season, Mont Alto took the win last time.
