Men's Basketball defeats Schuylkill

Every PSUAC win for the Mont Alto Men's Basketball is very important at this point of the season.  The team started their last stretch of conference play against Schuylkill on Tuesday night.  On their home court, Mont Alto (9-2) defeated Schuylkill (0-9), 87-52.

"As a group we came out with a defensive purpose which provided us with tons of energy offensively and defensively throughout the game," Head Coach Jack Schenzel comments.

Sophomore Sharif Welton (Sullivan County, PA) scored a career high of 21 points.  Welton was 4-4 from the free throw line and 1-1 from the three point line during his 25 minutes of play.  Gerry Earle (Washington, DC) was also in double digits, contributing 14 points, sinking four of his five three point shots.

"This was a very good group effort from top to bottom.  We were very unselfish with the ball tonight and it showed in our ability to shoot a high percentage from the floor," Coach Schenzel adds.

This was the first of the next five PSUAC conference games the team will be hosting in the next week and half.  The results of these games will determine the seeding for playoffs.  On the schedule for this weekend, Greater Allegheny on Friday at 8:00 p.m. and Beaver at 1:00 p.m. Saturday.
