UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State Mont Alto junior guard Quintyn Flemister (Harrisburg, Pa. / Harrisburg) was named Penn State University Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Year on Sunday highlighting several award winners. JR Powe (Frederick, Md. / Thomas Johnson) was named Rookie of the Year of the West Division and head coach Jack Schenzel earned PSUAC Coach of the Year. Flemister and Powe were named First Team All-PSUAC, while sophomore John Teague (Hagerstown, Md. / North Hagerstown) earned honorable mention all-conference.

Flemister makes it two-years in a row that a student-athlete from Mont Alto was recognized as the Player of the Year joining former standout Jalen Smith. Powe was the first student-athlete under Coach Schenzel to be recognized as Rookie of the Year within the conference as he brought home his third coach of the year accolade.

Quintyn Flemister (Harrisburg, Pa. / Harrisburg) has quickly established himself as a premier guard within the PSUAC as he often guards the opponent's top scorer and ranks third within the USCAA in steals per game (2.9). He's currently averaging a career-high 13.3 points per contest, which is second best on the team and has scored 20 or more points six times this season including a 34-point outing against PSU Greater Allegheny. He draws numerous charge calls, while grabbing 5.8 rebounds per game, which tops all guards within the PSUAC conference.

Powe, who also earned PSUAC First Team recognition, is currently Mont Alto's leading scorer (14.8) and top rebounder (9.2). The Thomas Johnson HS product has put together nine double-doubles including five-straight leading up to the PSUAC Championship win over PSU York on Sunday. Arguably his best performance of the season so far was a 28-point, 11 rebound outing in the 80-75 win over PSU Wilkes-Barre on Feb. 15.

John Teague (Hagerstown, Md. / North Hagerstown) is one of the top big men within the league, averaging 12.2 points and 8.4 rebounds, while starting 27 games. Offensively, Teague ranks third in the PSUAC with his 57.9% field goal percentage. Mont Alto made it a priority to feed the post within it's thrilling PSUAC Championship victory on Sunday with Teague leading all scorers with 22 points on 9-of-10 shooting from the field. He also collected nine rebounds in the 64-61 win over PSU York.

In addition, Austin Towner (Littlestown, Pa. / Littlestown) was the recipient of the John Fritz Sportsmanship Award from the conference. Named after former PSUAC Commissioner John Fritz, the sportsmanship award is given to one player from each team in the league who best displays the core values of the league and sportsmanship to teammates and opponents throughout the season.

Mont Alto learned earlier this afternoon that they will be the No. 5 seeded team in the USCAA National Tournament, which will once again be held on the campus of Penn State Fayette. Mont Alto enters the national tournament with a 24-4 overall record and will play NHTI on Sunday, March 8 in the first round matchup against the No. 4 seeded Lynx.
