Nittany Lions hang on to win sixth straight

Penn State Mont Alto 48, Penn State New Kensington 44

 

Penn State Mont Alto hung on to pick up a key PSUAC victory on Saturday afternoon, defeating Penn State New Kensington 48-44. Both teams shot under 38% for the game, as Penn State Mont Alto received a team leading 12 points from Dariel Rivera and ten from Bryson Fleming.

 

Aubrey Feaster II led the way for Penn State New Kensington as he scored 13 points in 36 minutes. Ta'Rasi Means added 11 and Jovan Kojic scored 10 to lead the way for New Kensington. 

 

Mont Alto raced out to a 15-9 lead early in the first half before New Kensington went on a 5-0 run to cut the lead to 15-14 at the halfway point of the first half. Lee Newton and Nathan Osei each made a three pointer to push the Mont Alto lead to 21-14. Mont Alto took a 27-20 advantage into the break.

 

Mont Alto kept the lead much throughout the second half as Anthony Davis converted on a layup with Mont Alto leading 40-29 with 9:26 remaining in the game. New Kensington would go on a 13-2 run in the next seven minutes as the game was tied at 42-42 on a Shyheim Flanagan free throw with two minutes left. Caleb Eckert scored his only two points of the game on a pair of free throws with 20 seconds left.
