Penn State Mont Alto 70, Penn State Fayette 65
Anthony Davis led Penn State Mont Alto with a team-leading 20 points in 25 minutes as Penn State Mont Alto picked up its 8th consecutive victory, defeating Penn State Fayette 70-65 on Saturday afternoon.
Mont Alto received early contributions from each of its three seniors as all three scored baskets in the games first four minutes as Mont Alto lead 9-6 with 16:14 remaining in the half. Mont Alto would hold a decent sized lead for much of the first half until Fayette went on a run to cut the lead to 20-19 on a Carlton Canaday jump shot with seven minutes left in the first half. Fayette would grab its first lead at the three minute mark remaining in the half as Dominic Boring made a three point basket to go on top 26-25. Mont Alto responded quickly with a 5-0 run before Canaday made a layup as Mont Alto led at the half 31-30.
Anthony Davis scored 15 of his 20 points in an efficient second half, including going 7 of 10 from the foul line. Davis scored six straight points in the early part of the second half to push the Mont Alto lead to 45-38 with 12:26 left. Torian Jenkins converted a tip-in minutes later as Fayette trailed by one point at 46-45, quickly prompting a Mont Alto timeout.
Mont Alto grabbed the lead with a Davis tip in with 5:06 remaining as Mont Alto lead 54-52. The Nittany Lions would not squander the lead the rest of the way in route to a 70-65 conference victory.
