Mont Alto's nine game winning streak snapped

Penn State Brandywine 74, Penn State Mont Alto 53

 

Nathan Osei scored a team-leading 19 points on Friday as Penn State Mont Alto lost for the first time in nine games, losing a cross division battle to Penn State Brandywine 74-53. Colin Hockenbrock had 17 points and nine rebounds for Penn State Brandywine, leading the home team in points.

 

Mont Alto raced out to an early 5-0 start behind baskets from Caleb Eckert and Cameron Williams. An Osei three-point basket pushed the lead to seven with Mont Alto leading 10-3 with 16:48 left in the first half. Brandywine would gain the lead a few minutes later as they led 13-11 on a Johnta Dunson basket. The Brandywine advantage shortly ballooned to ten on a 9-1 run with the home team leading 22-12. 

 

Brandywine led by as much as 18 late in the first half on a three-point basket from Colin Hockenbrock with Brandywine leading 35-17 with 3:57 left in the opening half. Mont Alto trailed 38-25 at the half.

 

Penn State Mont Alto would not quit in the second half. A pair of successful free throw attempts from Osei found Mont Alto only trailing by four with the score 50-46 with 8:58 left in the game. Four points would be as close as Mont Alto could get in the second half as minutes later Brandywine went on a 20-3 run to put the game away late. Brandywine went on to win 73-49.
