Mont Alto completes weekend sweep

Penn State Mont Alto 73, Penn State New Kensington 72

Penn State Mont Alto won the first game of their crossover conference trip on Friday night, defeating New Kensington 73-72. Veron Talla led Mont Alto in scoring with 15 points, tallying 12 rebounds. Saihou Mbergan scored 14 points and grabbed 14 rebounds. 

 

Aubrey Feaster was the leading scorer with 25 points on 9 of 15 shooting. Ta'Rasi Means scored 16 points in 36 minutes of action. 

 

Cameron Williams made a layup for Mont Alto with 2:13 remaining, pushing the lead to 71-63. Shyheim Flanagan would give New Kensington the lead with a three point basket with 20 seconds left, capping off a 9-0 run. Veron Talla would convert both foul shots to seal the game for Mont Alto with a 73-72 win.

 

 

Penn State Mont Alto 72, Penn State Shenango 61

Bryson Fleming scored 19 points off the bench for Mont Alto in 21 minutes of action as Mont Alto defeated Penn State Shenango by a final of 72-61. Fleming was very efficient from behind the arc shooting 6 of 7 from deep. Talla scored 17 points and grabbed 8 rebounds to pace Mont Alto in the winning effort.

 

D'Montez Owens was Shenango's leading scorer with 15 points on 6 of 23 shooting. Jeremiah Green added a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds in 27 minutes of action.

 

Following a 38-36 halftime deficit, Mont Alto was able to find its groove defensively by holding Shenango to 23 second half points.
