Eckert’s Outstanding Performance Pushes Mont Alto Past Fayette 83-67

LEMONT FURNACE, Pa – The men's team traveled to Penn State Fayette on Tuesday for some conference play. Caleb Eckert led all scorers with a career-high 31 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead Mont Alto to an 83-67 victory.  

 

How it Happened 

  • Saihou Mbergan and Bryson Fleming opened the scoring for Mont Alto to put them up 4-0 early. 

  • After three quick baskets from Fayette, Mont Alto would go on an 11-0 run that Dariel Rivera topped off with 12 minutes left in the first half. 

  • Mont Alto and Fayette would go basket for basket the rest of the half, going into halftime deadlocked 33-33.  

  • Caleb Eckert and Nathan Osei each contributed layups to open the scoring within the first minute. 

  • Mont Alto would ride the momentum and go on an impressive 20-3 run with seven different scorers contributing to the push.  

  • Dasilas Jones of Fayette broke the drought with a layup with 13:32 remaining the in game. 

  • With 10:09 remaining, Caleb Eckert started to heat up with a three-pointer that put Mont Alto up 13.  

  • Fayette's Torian Jenkins hit a jumper to bring them within nine with 7:19 left in the game.  

  • However, the push wouldn't develop into anything more and Mont Alto would hold on to a steady lead for the rest of the night. 

  • Caleb Eckert went on to score 13 more points with the rest of the team scoring 10 to close out the game and Joe Brooks completed the scoring with a pair of free throws to put Mont Alto up 83-67 in the closing seconds.

Torian Jenkins – 19 points, 7 rebounds 

Dasilas Jones – 16 points, 8 rebounds, 7 steals 

 

Penn State Mont Alto Leaders:  

Caleb Eckert – 31 points, 9 rebounds 

Cameron Williams – 11 points, 6 assists, 5 rebounds 

Saihou Mbergan – 9 points, 12 rebounds
