Mont Alto thunders past Penn State Scranton

SCRANTON, Pa. – Nathan Osei led all scorers on Saturday with 26 points and helped Mont Alto surge past Penn State Scranton. Every Mont Alto player got in on the scoring and the team win will help them build momentum for their next matchup against PSUAC West opponents Penn State Shenango.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-Mont Alto's Darrius Bush and Scranton's Fhenyx Scutt exchanged 3-pointers early to open the scoring

-Scranton's Jaiden Wiggins tied the game at 11-11 with a layup midway through the first half

-With 5:34 remaining in the half, Jacob Bassham capped an impressive 23-0 run with a 3-point jump shot

-A couple of free throws from Mont Alto's Darrius Bush sent them to the locker room with a 43-24 advantage

-Nathan Osei extended Mont Alto's lead to 30 on a layup with 16:54 left in the contest

-Marquis Wilson hit a 3-pointer to put Mont Alto at the 100-point mark and Taralle Hayden closed out the game with a jumper that sent Mont Alto home victorious 102-61

Macio Robinson – 23 points, 2 assists

Jaiden Wiggins – 14 points, 5 rebounds

 

Penn State Mont Alto Leaders:

Nathan Osei – 26 points, 5 rebounds

Bryson Fleming – 13 points, 5 rebounds

Dariel Rivera – 11 points, 4 rebounds

 

UP NEXT: The men's basketball team will take on Penn State Shenango at home on Sunday, 2/18 in conference play. This game is a rescheduled event from 2/13. Tipoff is set for 6:30 PM.
