
USCAA Men's Basketball Quarterfinals: Penn State Mont Alto 48, VSU Randolph 43
Buffalo, New York- Despite a rough shooting night, Penn State Mont Alto was able to convert from the foul line in route to a 48-43 win over VSU Randolph in their USCAA Quarterfinal contest on Wednesday evening from the Burt Flickinger Center in Buffalo, New York. With Wednesday's victory, Mont Alto advances to Friday afternoon's semifinal contest against Penn State Schuylkill.
Jaden Clark pushed the Knights lead to 11-2 early with a three pointer as the Knights started out on fire from range. Late in the half, Clark converted from distance again to push the lead to 22-14 with six minutes left. Tevin Venson had a key basket for Mont Alto at the end of the half as his layup cut the deficit to 22-18 at the half.
Mont Alto gained the lead with a 32-31 advantage on a three point play from Veron Talla with 12:37 left. The Lions would once again gain the lead on a Caleb Eckert basket to push Mont Alto on top 36-35. Jonathan Pang extended the lead to five and Jaylon Calvin quickly pushed it back to two on a three pointer 42-40.
With the score tied 43-43 with 3:04 remaining, VSU Randolph was held scoreless the rest of the way as Mont Alto made five free throws to win the contest 48-43.
