Mont Alto Finishes Sixth on Penn State’s White Course

University Park, Pa. – The Penn State Mont Alto golf team once again attended a PSUAC Invitational in State College with the Lions claiming a six-place team finish on the White Course. Overall, the Lions had 338 strokes with Penn State Lehigh Valley earning the team championship by totaling 313 strokes.

Brian Zinman of Penn State Lehigh Valley was the individual champion after a -1 under round of 71 strokes. Leading Mont Alto was once again Tom Shearer (Chambersburg, Pa. / Chambersburg) who carded a 75. Owen Groft (Hanover, Pa. / New Oxford) was the next best finishing Lion with a round of 83. Freshman Robert Sirk  (Waynesboro, Pa. / Waynesboro Area) posted an 85, while Dayne Conner (Shippensburg, Pa. / Big Spring) shot a 93 to round up the team scores for Mont Alto.

Erika Cauffman (Waynesboro, Pa. / Waynesboro Area) was one of three female golfers in the field and she carded a solid 103.

The Lions have a quick turnaround competing this Thursday at the Penn State Hazleton Invitational at Valley Country Club. Tee time is slated for 11 a.m.
