Austin Green Tied for Second After Day One of PSUAC/USCAA National Championships; Mont Alto 13th as a Team

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – At the conclusion of Day One of the PSUAC/USCAA National Championships, the Penn State Mont Alto men's golf team sits in 13th-place, while senior Austin Green (Greencastle, Pa. / Chambersburg Area) finished his afternoon tied for second with 125 participants vying for team and individual honors. Pacing the field on the Penn State University Blue Course after Monday's round is St. Mary of the Woods College with a round of 283.

Mont Alto compiled a four-man team score of 332, which are 49-strokes behind the current leaders. However, Mont Alto only sits seven strokes behind current, PSUAC leader Penn State Fayette who carded a team score of 325 (+37). The PSUAC and USCAA Championships are run simultaneously each year at the Penn State main campuses Blue Course.

Austin Green (Greencastle, Pa. / Chambersburg Area) once again turned in a strong round on the blue course finishing with a two-under par round of 70. Sophomore Robert Sirk (Waynesboro, Pa. / Waynesboro Area) carded a 12-over round of 84 and freshman Cameron Lee (Warrenton, Va. / Fauquier) was right behind him carding a 88, which has Lee tied for 80th.

Freshman Noah Witmer (Greencastle, Pa. / Greencastle Antrim) was the other scorer for PSUMA with a 90. Fellow newcomer Matthew Lynerd (Greencastle, Pa. / Greencastle Antrim) carded a 98.                                                                                        

The USCAA/PSUAC Championships resume tomorrow morning with a shotgun start scheduled for 9 a.m.
