2023 Men's Soccer Preview
The 2023 Penn State Mont Alto Men's Soccer team brings back some familiar faces along with a large first year class ready to help improve the team. The team had a strong finish last year with four of their five wins coming in the last eight games but ended up losing to Penn State Lehigh Valley in the 1st round of PSUAC Playoffs.
Key Returners:
D/M #28 River Terry
4th Year River Terry had a 2022 team high ten goals while also leading the team in assists and total points. These team highs helped earn him a PSUAC 2nd Team All-Conference Award as well as a USCAA All-American Honorable Mention. Terry has plenty of experience to help guide a big incoming freshman class to a successful 2023 season.
M #6 Kynn Loss
2nd Year Kynn Loss was second on the team in goals scored with six in addition to three assists and 15 total goals scored. Loss led the team in game winning goals scoring three of the teams five throughout the season. With an exciting first year under his belt, Loss looks to add to his already impressive resume in his second year.
M #21 Thomas Oberholzer
Oberholzer had a successful campaign in 2022 recording five goals, three assists, and 13 total points for the team while scoring having a proficient SOG% of .577. He also earned honors as a USCAA Academic All-American.
M #9 Thomas Lane
Lane who is now entering his 3rd Year, made an appearance in 16 games and scored two goals, had three assists and seven total points over that time.
D #16 Connor Geis
3rd Year Connor Geis started 17 out of 18 games last season, adding a stable presence to the roster with every game. During those starts he scored one goal and had two total points.
D #14 Devonte Henry
Henry, who is entering his 2nd Year, appeared in 12 games last season and registered one goal in that time on an efficient .625 SOG% along with two total points.
M/D #22 Wesley Muller
Muller started every game last year providing an important piece of stability night in and night out. Over that span, he scored one goal, assisted on one goal, and had three total points.
D #13 Andrew Wang
As a 1st Year, Andrew Wang was another piece of the roster who was able to provide a consistent presence on the pitch, starting all 18 games. During that time, he was able to record five shots on goal.
