Mont Alto defeats Hazleton 4-2, remains unbeaten in conference play

Penn State Mont Alto Men's Soccer remained undefeated in conference play following a balanced offensive attack, defeating Penn State Hazleton 4-2 on Wednesday afternoon.

 

Wesley Muller put Mont Alto on top early when he finished a redirected shot past the keeper in the 12th minute as Mont Alto led 1-0. In the next minute of play, Hazleton's Collin Bogdon fed Angelo Paniagua in the midfield as he dribbled past a slew of Mont Alto defenders to beat keeper Zach Stum to tie the match at 1-1 in the 13th minute.

 

Adriel De Jesus led Thomas Oberholzer in the midfield in the 22nd as he found the back of the net to push Mont Alto ahead 2-1. The remainder of the first half featured no goals as Mont Alto led 2-1 after 45 minutes of play. 

 

Minutes following the break, River Terry connected on one of his six shots on goal in the match as the ball trickled past the keeper and a Hazleton defender to extend the lead to 3-1.

 

The Bogdon-Paniagua connection struck gold in the 56th minute for Hazleton as Bogdon finished off this goal to cut the lead back to one.

 

The remainder of the game remained scoreless until the final minute of play when Andrew Wang finished off a corner kick by Kynn Loss for an insurance goal in the waning seconds of action.

 

Mont Alto will look to remain undefeated in conference play when they travel to Greater Allegheny this Saturday for a 1 pm start.
