MONT ALTO, Pa. - Freshman Spotlight: This Q&A will serve as a get to know you series for our Penn State Mont Alto spring freshman student-athletes.

1. Why did you choose to attend Mont Alto?

• I choose Mont Alto because I loved how open and welcoming everyone was. Everyone was so kind and willing to help and guide me as a new student.

2. If you could change one thing from your first year, what would it be and why?

• If I could change anything about my first year it would be that it didn't got cut short due to the Covid-19 pandemic. I know that the circumstances are uncontrollable, but I would try so that I could continue building new relationships as well as spend time with the senior friends I made who will not be here next year.

3. What is your major and why?

• My major is Psychological and Social Sciences because my dream job is that of law enforcement more specifically a profiler for the FBI.

4. What has been your favorite course at Mont Alto and why?

• My favorite course at Mont Alto has been CAS100. At first, I thought it was pointless and a little ridiculous to have a speech class as a graduation requirement. I also wondered how much there was you could learn about giving a speech and there were only so many speeches you could give. But it turns out I am a much better speaker now than ever and the speeches I've given had a hilariously wide range.

5. What is your favorite inspirational quote and who said it?

• "The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall." – Nelson Mandela

6. What is the hardest part of your sport?

• The hardest part about softball is not knowing where the ball will go when playing the field. You have to always be set and ready to act quickly.

7. Name one obstacle or form of adversity you have had to overcome.

• I am a Latina first generation college student. With that being said, I have received a lot of negativity about how "someone like me" should not and will not go to college. This is a huge motivator for me to prove people wrong.

8. What advice do you have for a prospective Mont Alto student-athlete?

• Make sure you have good time management, establish a good relationship with your professors, and build a schedule that will allow you to have time to complete your schoolwork because your academics come first.
